5,000 Blasts Highlight Community's 3rd Annual Fireworks Display

Emerson, NJ – The sky above Emerson NJ lit up on June 23rd as 5,000 fireworks shells kicked off the summer of 2012. MRC Marketing provided complete event planning and management, staging and promotion for the New Jersey community’s annual start of summer celebration. The multi-event day included a baseball games, a youth Homerun Derby and a charity softball tournament.

Planning for the celebration began in September 2011 and continued through the winter according to MRC Creative Director Dave Rector. “In prior years the town’s celebration was limited to a town picnic and carnival rides,” said Rector. In 2010 the first annual fireworks added an extra dimension to this celebration. While the first-time addition of fireworks in 2010 presented a variety of challenges in terms of legislative approval, venue selection and of course meeting all local fire codes and regulations, its success justified it becoming an annual event.

“Since 1986 we’ve handled large tradeshows, live entertainment events and celebrity appearances ranging from 2,000 attendee theme parties to sales meetings and grand openings,” said Rector. “Fireworks, however, are often eliminated from the mix due to the complexity and cost of the shows. In this case, the town was determined to make it happen and with the success of the third annual event it looks like this new local tradition will continue."

For the third year the cost of the event was underwritten by local businesses eliminating the reliance on taxpayer dollars.
